It is always fun shooting photos with people that you know and are comfortable with. Not only you with them, but them with you. This takes out a lot of the awkwardness when it comes to getting good photos right off the bat! My brother was recently engaged to his beautiful girlfriend, Kaitlyn and proposed in a beautiful and unique way! Curious what way that was? Check it out in the video below. I had the awesome opportunity to be apart of that!
After that experience, the logical thing to gift them was engagement photos. Unfortunately being a groomsman, I wasn’t able to do the wedding, however with some unique ideas in our back pockets, we really got some awesome photos for them to share on their save the dates!
Tom and Kaitlyn’s story is an awesome one. They started out as friends and Kaitlyn was dating another gentleman at the time, however Tom always had his eye on her. He used to tell me that “If Kaitlyn was single, she would be an ideal person to date.” And then Tom’s opportunity came at a New Year ’s Eve party in Santa Clarita. Neither of them had a new year’s kiss, so they found each other! From there, their relationship blossomed. My wife and I got to be with them on the days of their big moments: the time they became official, shared their first I love you, even the engagement night. They also shared a European adventure together before tying the knot!
For their engagement session, we started off shooting engagement photos at Placerita Nature Center and got some truly stunning portraits. After that, we took a nice ride out to Malibu and wrapped things up at Matador Beach! Malibu engagement photos always come out with such a dramatic flair. I think that is one of the reasons why I enjoy shooting there so much!
