Shed Light Photography

By Josh D. Smith

Q: What equipment do you use?

A: I use the fantastic Canon 5D Mark II as my primary camera. My Canon T3i serves as my backup body. My lens kit is a 50mm f/1.4, 70-200mm f/2.8, and a 28-75mm f/2.8. I also carry light stands, umbrellas, and 2 Canon 430EX II speedlights for studio work.

Q: For headshots, do you shoot natural or studio light?

A: I prefer natural light. It captures a photograph in ways that studio can never do. I find that most agents prefer natural light to studio. However, I do have the capabilities to do studio work if you prefer.

Q: Do you offer discounts for headshots?

A: Most likely yes! If you are a student of represented, there is a good chance I have a special price for you! Email me to find out!

Q: Do I get to see my photos during my headshot session?

A: Absolutely!! I know so many photographers who feel they have to be secret and you never see what you are doing on camera until they hand you the DVD. How better to get the BEST photos than to collaborate with each other! We review the photos as we take them so you see what you are getting and how to change what you are doing to achieve different looks!

Q: How soon do I get my photos?

A: For headshots, I take all the photos from our shoot and edit them before I put them on a high resolution DVD. I usually have this disc ready for you within 48 hours. For weddings, I do the same with all the editing. Because of the high volume of photos taken, I usually have a disc ready to give you within 1-2 months. This includes the time to create the wedding album!

Q: Do you charge for consultations?

A: NEVER! I think that it is outrageous that photographers feel they can charge just to talk. All meetings with me are complimentary!

Q: Im on a budget, can you help me out?

A: Email me about your specific situation and chances are yes i can!

Q: How much do you require as a deposit for my wedding?

A: I require 1/3 the total price as a deposit which locks your date. This is non-refundable. The remainder of the payment is due 2 weeks before the wedding.

Q: What happens if I pay all that money and you don't show up?

A: First of all, that would NEVER happen. That is just bad business. Second of all, all my clients and myself sign a contract that covers each of us!

Q: Do you shoot RAW or JPEG?

A: I shoot RAW for all my shoots.

Q: Everything sounds and looks great! Can we meet to talk more about my shoot?

A: Absolutely!! Head over to my contact page and email or call me to set up a time!
